Insurance and Other Benefit Plans for APWU Retirees
While career employee members of the American Postal Workers Union are eligible for all benefits offered by the Voluntary Benefits Plan while they are actively at work, some benefit programs are available to retirees.
There are two categories of benefits available to retirees: (a) benefits that must be purchased prior to retirement but may be continued after retirement and (b) benefits that may be purchased after the retirement provided the member continues his/her APWU membership.

- Group Basic Care Hospital Insurance Plan (may be purchased if under age 60 - continued to age 65).

You must notify The Voluntary Benefits Plan of any address change for you, your dependents and/or beneficiaries, and any change in employment and union membership status change, life status change (i.e., marriage, divorce, beneficiary or name change), or benefit changes requested.
