Q. Would you explain to me what this plan is about?
A. This program was designed to provide hospital and surgical benefits to APWU members as a supplement to their major medical insurance, and for those members who may not have medical insurance. The Basic Care Hospital Plan will pay a specific daily benefit if an insured person is hospitalized due a non-job related injury or sickness.

Q. What are some of the benefits of this plan?
A. Some of the benefits are as follows:

  • Pays a benefit from the first day of hospital confinement
  • Pays for surgical benefits, up to a maximum of $2,500
  • Pays $25 per day for in-hospital physician visits, up to 180 visits
  • Pays an anesthesia benefit for surgery according to the policy
